Next Selection of Lost and Found-

 Lost and Found
 -Lost-

She was lying in an awkward position, and something was digging into her side. She tried to push herself up with her arm, but hot pain shot from her shoulder down to her hand and gave way to her weight. Opening her eyes she found that her left eye would only open enough to let in a sliver of light. Bright blinding light flooded her other eye. “ ahh!” The light sent instant pain to her head. She mentally ran a check of the rest of her body. Her face felt like she had taken a beaten, using her other hand she felt her face, it felt swollen and the pain spread across her cheekbones down her left side to her chin. At first, she didn’t notice the pain throbbing down her side and her leg, but as she became more aware the more she felt.

She pushed up again, where was she? It felt like she was still in her car. Memories of the accident slowly fluttering in her mind. The rain, getting hit, the car crashing into the canal. The memory came rushing back and it hurt. She tried to open her right eye, blinking a few times the brightness decreased and the blurry objects started to focus into view.
She still wasn’t able to open her left eye very wide. She remembers her airbag going off and trying to block her face from the impact. Broke nose? She tried to remember as much as she could. How long had she been in the car, why was she still in the car? She distinctly remembered breaking the window and escaping the drowning car. Had only a few moments passed? “ HELP!” her voice cracked out. Her throat was dry and very sore again she yelled this time a bit louder. “ HELP, Please.. “ she heard nothing, no sound of rain, rushing water, or of sirens.

In her attempt to get out of the car she remembered cutting the seatbelt, which had caught on something and pin her shoulder back. She must manage to get free of the restraint, she realized that she was lying across the back of the front seats of her car. Her head on the passenger seat and her legs stuck between the seats on the driver's side. Her foot stuck in the steering wheel. The car was lying nose first and she had to rotate her body to brace her back against the passenger seat wiggling her feet free and pushing up. It took everything she had to move that much.

She stared at the back of the car. She rubbed her right eye the best she could without causing pain to surge. She couldn’t comprehend what she was seeing. The back half of her car was missing, and a gold dust was falling off what was left of the roof of her car. She reached out with her right arm, letting the dust fall into her palm of her hand. The golden dust particles were warm and they shimmer in her hand, it was not dust, but sand! How did she land in a sandbank?

Thoughts raced through her mind. She had died, that’s it either that or she was laying in a hospital bed somewhere in a coma and this was her minds way of dealing. But does one feel pain, when you are dead... No not dead it had to be the other, because no part of her mind could rationalize anything else.
She took a deep breath, and pain seized her chest.  She could make sense of this, if she was in a coma, her mind would rationalize the pain that was happening on the outside with the dreamlike state she must be in.

So if she was in a dream-like state, she should be able to control the outcome. Come on she thought ‘wake up, open your eyes.’ She squinted and open her right eye again, but nothing changed. Okay, she thought and swallowed, what little spit she had in her mouth. Water, she needed water. It was getting to be really hot all of a sudden. She had a thermos of water in the car in the car with her at some point in time. She looked around and found that it had rolled up under the glove compartment, along with her purse, the dagger, and her cell phone. Her phone her heart almost leaped out of her chest, and that too hurt. Changing positions she tugged out the thermos, she was lucky it manage to survive the crash still steeled tightly shut. The water was cold and sooth her sore and dry throat.

With her thirst taken care of, she turned her focus on to her phone. The screen was cracked, but it to her surprise it still worked! She had half a battery life left. Her chest tightens as she realized that it had no signal at all. Still clinging to hope she tried to call 911 but got nothing on her end. No dial tone, no sound what so ever. Panic rose, she had to remain calm. A sucking feeling came over her pulling her down and wanted to bury her alive. She needed air, needed to get out of the car. Gravity was still trying to pull her down, it wouldn’t let go of its hold on her, she pulled with everything she had to get out of the car and up over the sand now threating to bury her.

Once outside away from the tight space, she could breathe. Even though breathing was getting very hard for her to do. When she was a kid, she suffered from small cases of asthma. She could still feel the constriction of her chest as it worked it’s way up her windpipe, closing off airways. Every breath was a fight to live, it was like that now.

Wheezing she took note of her surroundings. Well she thought, her mind could think up of some derange things and now it had dumped her right in the middle of a desert, with nothing but golden dust blowing before her eyes.
It was hot too, now outside the protection of the car and the shade it  provided. She could feel it burning against her skin. Go ahead explain this away she thought. She was trapped inside her mind, which dumped her in hell.
